Headphonics

Headphonics, is a project by producers Markku Louhio and Tommi Sirkiä in their search for the perfect mix of electronic and conventional music, taking inspiration from old movie soundtracks, classic 70´s funk, comics, house, breaks, drum ´n bass and hip hop. Their debut album Evolution Of Funk will be released in February 2008.

Headphonics is a blend of underground and mainstream, taking inspiration from old movie soundtracks, classic 70s funk, comics, house, breaks, drum and bass and hip hop. Louhio and Sirkiä wanted to make a tribute to old traditions and to good old ways of making music without forgetting the more unconventional producing methods. The result is powerful breakbeat, spiced with pop flavour and an edge of freaky vibes rolling on funky basslines. offering the listener guaranteed funk in diverse forms.

Headphonics is a musical collective which features noted Finnish artists: DJ Mel-3, an established funk and hip hop DJ in Finland who does some co-producing in the band; Vesa Pasanen, a musical virtuose with the guitar; Moroccan-born MC Hosni, who has worked with such famous Finnish groups as Giant Robot, Cool Sheiks, Fat Beat Sound System and Brothom States. Headphonics also co-operates with the highly respected brass section Baabelin Torvet, which has performed with many of the biggest artists in Finland. Actress and singer Katja Sirkiä´s vocal performance adds a female touch to Headphonics, and DJ Voidhead throws some drum and bass mentality in the mix.

Node
Node hails from the home of Finnish techno, Turku, and has been
entertaining dancers with various genres of electronic dance music
from '97. His musical history includes a wide spectrum of genres,
including punk and jazz until meeting his passion, electronic music,
in 95. He begun his DJ voyage with jazzy d'n'b until discovering
pumping uplifting discohouse a few years later. In -01 he was re-
introduced to the psychedelic scene and has been a passionate
connoiseur of psy-tunes ever since, never forgetting his roots in
house, breaks and techno. He plays a wide variety of genres,
anything from postholocaust pumping latenite tech, to geeky morning
'the-sun-never-rises'-sets with a special love (<3) for latin rhythms
and progressive techno.
Lately, much to the thanks of the concretization of the Deepscan ideal,
his style has been tending more and more towards twisted tech- and
electro house - less bpm but none the less imperative!

Grin
Grin is usually located in Helsinki, Finland. He has been
involved in the finnish electronic music scene since -95
when he got interested in warehouse techno parties that were
held quite often in Helsinki that time. He played his first DJ
set -98 and started playing actively in in -02, mainly
progressive psytrance at the time. His sound has developed
nowadays into a broader scale towards groovy techno and
progressive/electro/tech/house and so on. Groovy basslines
and pumping rhytmics are guaranteed.

Vihdoin!!

Jamie Robinson on ollut pari kertaa jo aikaisemminkin vuosia sitten suomessa veivaamassa, silloin kun soitti viela phantasm recordsin leirissa. Nykyisin mies on enemman teknoon ja breaksiin mennyt ja laittaa seratolla vinyyllit heilumaan brightonin u.g. soundilla. should be interesting..
