INFEKTO Occams Razor (out 18.4.)
The hotly-tipped breakbeat producer, and one of the funkiest DJs on the planet is launching his debut album this Spring. Having gathered momentum with a string of successful vinyl releases, this summer seems to be the busiest for him yet.
Occams Razor (nine2five recordings 013) is a long-awaited full length cd consisting his best 12 slammers and brand new dancefloor killers. Included are the Gilles Peterson favourite Left Hand Jazz, Original Black Magic (described by Straight No Chaser as original future jazz), and a host of new exclusive tracks.
With twelve tracks ranging from midtempo hip hop grooves to straight up breakbeat mayhem, the cd is tightly programmed to resemble a mixtape - making it the ideal soundtrack for the start of the evening or a good & grimey house party.
Building up for the album Infekto has two heavyweight vinyl releases in the pipeline. First, theres the much hyped Flash Lighter with a remix from no other than the mighty Krafty Kuts (on Menu Music). Then, the killer album tracks Tonight and Sexy Dancer make a sampler EP on nine2five not to be missed. A VIP version of Flash Lighter is also included on the CD album.

DEGO MCFARLANE is considered to be one of the founders of Drum and Bass. He set up legendary Reinforced Records with partners Mark Mac, Gus and Ian in the early 90s and has been internationally successful with Marc Mac as 4hero. Dego has recorded in almost every musical style imaginable, pushing the boundaries steadily from the past to future.
Dego started with 4hero-partner Marc Mac as Solar Zone Sound System in 1986 They set up the pirate station Strong Island Radio (1988 - 1989) and debuted on London´s Hip Hop-scene in the mid-80s. They left their mark by pioneering new forms of Drum and Bass from 1990, under the monikers of Mr Kirk's Nightmare, Tom & Jerry, Jacob's Optical Stairway and Journey From The Light. Classics include timeless tunes like 'Risin´ Sun', 'Combat Dance and The Scorcher'.
He debuted with 4hero in 1991 with In Rough Territories. On Parallel Universein 1994 the duo abandoned the genre they gave birth to and embraced a form of armchair Jungle that offered a groundbreaking marriage of fusion-Jazz and ambient music, lush strings and free-form electronics defusing breakbeats forever.
He introduced live instrumentation with the 4hero-EP Earth Pioneers (Talkin´ Loud, 1997) perfected on 'Two Pages '(Talkin´ Loud, 1998) and even absorbing more styles on 'Creative Patterns' (Talkin´Loud, 2001). Frantic drum-machines met orchestrated violins, standup bass, piano, clarinet and the spirit of 70s Soul music. Since then he is considered as one of the prophets of the new Soul, nu Jazz movement spanning from West London to Philadelphia. He also set up the label 2000 Black as a platform for soulful experimentation.
He launched the Tek 9 downbeat alter-ego in the mid-90s. The Tek 9 debut album 'It's Not What You Think It Is' (SSR, 1996) refined his approach to positive grooves, whereas the follow up, 'Simply' (SSR, 1999) featured a number of Hip Hop vocalists and returned him to sample-free Soul melodies and bass-heavy funky rhythms.
Dego has worked with soul divas including Jill Scott, spoken word artist Ursula Rucker, German fusion heroes Jazzanova, Hip Hop-darlings Digable Planets, Soul legend Roy Ayers and even a reintroduced Minnie Ripperton - just to name a few.
