In case you haven't heard of us before: Homotekno is a party that focuses on music that isn't featured on TOP40 lists or played in the big mainstream gay clubs in Helsinki. We’re trying to improve the local queer nightlife by providing another option.
As usual, we will be playing different styles of quality underground techno. Jussi Eskelinen and Man Jorge are on warmup duty, back-to-back. One of our favorite guests, DJ Tuomas G, takes the middle slot. After a long time of not being able to attend our events, it's only fair that our other resident DJ Sami H gets to play the closing set.
This time visuals are provided by the queer VJ collective Ruby Unicorn Visuals.
But what is our theme PRIDE™ about? Among other things, it's about playlist radio stations and major labels; the homogenized music culture in gay clubs; the commercialization of the pride movement worldwide and the problems it brings; pink money; the problems DIY collectives face; a statement of a fact as well as (self-)criticism.
